Q. 1 Solve

1)                Give the ratio of span to depth in the following items any four.

a) slab simply supported and spanning in one direction.

 b) slab continuous and spanning in one direction.

c) Slab simply supported and spanning in two directions.

 d) slab continuous and  spanning in two directions.

  e) Cantilever slabs.

2)                What is flight and nosing in staircase?

3)                What are the types of water tanks?

Q. 2 Solve

1)
Show with the help of neat sketches a continuous slab supported at ends and at three

equally spaced continuous points with maximum sagging and hogging moments.

2)          Explain with neat sketches straight stairs, dog-legged stairs, open newel stairs, and geometrical stair.

3)          What are the main two important factors in the design of water tank explain?

Q. 3 Solve

1) The main stair of an office building has to be located in a stair measuring 3.5m×3.5m.

The vertical distance between the floor is 3.75m. Find each of flight, number of riser required, rise of each riser and number of threads in each flight.

2)                Explain the general requirements recommended by IS code for the design of RCC water tanks.

3) Design a simply supported slab supported on masonry wall to the following

                   requirements.

i)                   Clear span 3m

ii)                  Live load – 250N /m2

Use m 20 Concrete and Fe 415 steel types of footing.

4) Design a circular tank to the following particulars.

          i) Diameter of tank = 3.50m, ii) Depth of water = 3m, iii) The tank rests on ground.

iv) The walls and base slabs are not monolithic with each other.

          v) sp wt of water = 9810 N/m3. Use m 20 concrete and grade 1 mild steel.
